Where were you when the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated (Saturday; February 1, 2003)?

I was at home, eating lasagna and getting ready to go to the library. I turned on the TV...and that's when I heard about the Columbia tragedy.

Challenger tragedy

I was at home when the Challenger exploded. (I would've been at school that day, but I think my mom was sick that day.)

I was in my room, with the TV off and the door closed. I heard about the Challenger tragedy from my mom, who was watching TV. Then I finally turned on my own cabled TV set.

I know, these are 'out there' but I am a little bit on the macabre side. I was only in the 6th grade but I remember seeing on the news about what he had done & all of the people waiting outside the prison the night of his execution w/signs that said "Burn, Bundy, Burn" & stuff like that.

When the Nightstalker was caught all I can remember is the media talking about Satanism. I've been reading about mass-murderers ever since.

I was only about 5 or 6 when this happened so I don't remember too much about it. What about everyone else here?
I'm a huge Ozzy fan & it seems to still tear him apart to talk about it.

I was in the 5th or 6th grade, and being so young, everything was exxagerated. Everyone was all worried that he was going to die or something. How naive we were...lol. Anyway, that was a big news event that I remember.

Does anyone remember that? I remember I was watching the Grammys and everyone was leaving to go to the studio to record it. That was like a big thing. MTV kept playing that video over and over and then they did the broadcast around the world at the same time. I was like in the 6th grade, living in Montgomery, Alabama when it came out..everyone would be singing it at school.

I was at home in my bedroom, resting and watching tv, when the news announcer came on and announced that Lennon had been shot and killed.

I was 4 years old, my sister was to be born in 20 days. My dad came up to my room to get me and bring me down to the TV room to watch the premier of MTV. It was a few minutes til midnight. I remember looking at the clock and seeing how blurry it looked to me. I sat on my huge, soft green/brown couch with my dad and MTV was born in front of our eyes. Video after video we watched, til about 2am. I fell asleep on the couch (after a spout of energy from dancing around the living room...

I will never forget this day as long as I live. We all thought it was so cool that a teacher and more so a female was going up in space so we were glued to the tv. Its almost like time stopped when that explosion happened. All the hope and confidence that had been built up in the success of the space shuttle reminded man once again how small he or she is and how little control we actually have.
